Yesterday’s DVD purchase.

January 02, 2008 By: Phil Category: Informative Posts 1 Comment →

If you knew me personally, you would know I hate spending money. I have no qualms buying the best of what I really want, but when it comes to minor things such as DVDs I find it to be a waste. I have to really want to see a movie repeatedly to even come close to justifying the purchase of a copy, and even then I still likely won’t because its still a waste of money.

Yesterday I went with my good friend Kevin to Best Buy to use a twenty five dollar gift card he received for Christmas and was locked into using it there. While browsing up and down the aisles for something he would like to purchase with it, I spied a copy of the movie Orgazmo… which I have wanted for quite some time. The movie soon found its way into my hands as the temptation of this movie was too great. I find this movie as hilariously funny as Beerfest, Super Troopers, and Forty Year Old Virgin, Which happen to be the kind of movies I watch over and over again in the background.

I dislike the fifteen dollar price tag but it is a relatively uncommon movie so I had to deal with it. If I wanted it I was going to have to ignore the price and buy it, and that is what I did. I am sure the enjoyment I receive from numerous viewings of this DVD will outweigh my personal hatred of paying for DVDs.

New Years Resolutions, Let the 2008 posting begin.

January 01, 2008 By: Phil Category: Informative Posts No Comments →

The following shall be what I hope to accomplish and will work hard towards this year:

1. Run every day no matter what… Work myself up to 3 miles a day every day.
2. Get on with a Police Department within the Las Vegas area. (working towards this one and hopefully will be achieved mid year with either DPS or UNLV Police).
3. Smile more, it doesn’t take that much more effort and people wont mistake you for angry all the time.
4. Stay in better contact with those you care about. If you care about them find the time to shoot off an email to say hello.
5. Post at least two cigar reviews a week, if your going to smoke every brand you come across may as well share the details.
6. Chip away at credit card debt and continue to save for retirement(already in progress)
7. Write quality posts that leave someone feeling like they learned something, be it about you or otherwise. No one wants to read garbage.
8. Seriously sell all my extra crap on eBay and de-clutter my life. Take proceeds and dump straight into debt or investments.
9. Work on getting the 85 Porsche 944 up to tip top shape, then worry about all the project 928s and 911s sitting collecting dust. Also don’t be selfish, take pictures and write up procedures so others may benefit from your knowledge.
10. Do not butcher the English language so badly so often.

My day thus far.

December 31, 2007 By: Phil Category: Informative Posts No Comments →

Woke up at about six thirty in the morning despite my show of resistance by shutting off a few of my alarms scattered across the room, only to lay back down. Half asleep, I stumbled my way through the house and out to the garage so that I might retrieve my work clothing from the dryer in preparation for my shower. Working my way towards the shower, I stopped to turn the heater on as to not be extremely cold one I got out of the water.

Took my time in the hot stream of water before I finished getting ready for the day. Once dressed I started the car to let the cabin and transmission heat up to operating temperatures. Went back inside the house to my computer, checked my email, put on my flak jacket, and finally put on my gun belt. I proceded to make my way into the drivers seat sans cigar today, just not in the mood for tobacco this morning.

The drive to work is uneventful. A constant eighty miles per hour gets me to my destination within twenty minutes. Once I arrive I am greeted by co-workers standing outside of a locked door. Whoever was supposed to electronically unlock the door inside was slacking and not responding to the door buzzer. After a few minutes outside in the cold, the door is finally open… luckily I had only stood outside a fourth as long as my comrades.

Once inside I begin to prepare my route for the day. Gave my vehicle a once over mechanically then went about the business of retrieving my coin load. After taking some time to load up the heavy boxes, I went to do the same for the currency. Luckily there is not all that much currency today which means theoretically stops should be faster.

My partner finally shows up and apparently he had just missed the door behind me… He had been outside that entire time waiting for the door to be opened. We start up the armored piggy bank and head out of the shop for what will hopefully be a short day without incident, though that usually is not the case. It takes us a while to reach the destination of our first customer in the morning, which gives me ample time to prepare all the paperwork needed throughout the day.

Today our second stop is one of our better restaurant customers and the manager was easily swayed into letting me have a four pack of muffins gratis. The same goes for the third stop, which is a convenience store, only with their multitude of fountain drinks. Within a few more stops we manage to acquire a large amount of chocolate which will be useful later as trading currency for our customers goods.

Shortly after the chocolate acquisition my tenure as messenger was to come to an end, as my partner was having a great deal of trouble coping with the cramped conditions of the driver’s seat due to some prior muscle strain of his recent off work adventures. I agree to drive and we go on about our merry way, but not for all that long as my partner spies a Taco Bell. I pull us up and he goes and orders to his heart’s content as I decide to abstain so that I may keep o ntrack getting ready for my physical exam with NV DPS.

With his meal in hand, we once again journey forward to our customers locations without incident worth mentioning. That is until we reach the IHOP we service, where the temptation of paying for food with chocolate is too great for me. I had my partner order me a standard cheeseburger sans fries. Upon his return he brought with him our cups refilled with our various liquids and the deposit, the burger would be ready in a few more minutes.

We waited a bit and my burger was ready, apparently he had eaten too much and did not order anything for himself even though it was free. I decided to hold off on my meal until I took us t our next destination. Upon arriving my feast began, and it was beyond delicious. Despite any preconceived notions of IHOP’s food quality, the hamburger made by the short order cooks at this location are superb.

My partner took just enough time in the stop for me to consume my meal and we were off once again. We reached the point in our day where we usually switch places, but his pain had remained so my stint as the driver was to continue. I actually like driving, so it is not really a problem for me to contine at all. I treat the truck as if it were one of my Porsche’s even if it is a few tons heavier.

So we continue on. Our day seems to be going slower than usual, which is bad… but it does not bother me as it does my partner. With the time in stops being drawn out I have time to be alone with my thoughts and the crappy selection on the radio dial. Being left alone with my thoughts can be a dangerous thing, and today was no exception. I started to think about the fact that I am lonely since she left and it starts to bother me.

I miss her deeply and love her very much, but I don’t get to decide how others are going to act when you put yourself on the chopping block and then hand them the axe… no strings attached. At that point you don’t know what will happen and sadly sometime they decide to swing and end it all. It may be possible to go back, but honestly I am better off being alone at this point in life.

Until I am stable financially, through an academy past probation, I will not be able to devote that much time to a relationship and making it work if the other feels neglected. Who knows though, the heart is funny and I would probably go back in a heart beat.

We reach yet another stop that allows us to partake in their soda fountain machines and I make the most of it. I still have my standard issued ice tea but have a craving for Diet Coke, so I make my partner acquire me a new cup with my liquid. The day is still running late but a phone-call from a friend helps me pass the time while boring my partner as I have muted the radio.

The end of our day is getting nearer but we still have a hurdle. .. A time stop. We have very specific times we must have our ATMs serviced by, thus we break route to go service out last one before the deadline which adds to a longer day. Still not really a bother and my mind is soon on other things like the fact that I must use my Chipotle burrito dollar before days end as it expires the last day of 2007.

At the end of it all we miss one bank due to it closing prior to our route finish time, not really a problem as we have not made this bank in two months. We bank out what we can and return the rest to base. We are finally free and clear for the day.

I hop in my car and head to the freeway. My ride home was uneventful if not a tad slow due to all the exits near the strip being shut down in preparation for the new year’s eve festivities on the strip. I decide whiel driving to post a blog about my day to give some insight into my day to day life.

Now I am at home, typing this post up and deciding which cigar I should smoke and review for the transition to 2008. Hopefully my day gets more exciting from here.

Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack Suprisingly Awesome

December 31, 2007 By: Phil Category: Anime, Informative Posts, Music No Comments →

The album linked under the image below has turned out to be the best gift I have received in quite some time. I had forgotten just how much I loved the music from the first anime I saw that I did not find to be total garbage.

Cowboy Bebop CD Box (Limited Edition)

Thank-you Kevin, for the awesome gift.

Depressed?

December 02, 2007 By: Phil Category: Informative Posts No Comments →

Probably. Giving myself the day to be depressed and done with it for tomorrow is a new day. The girl whom has my affections has been unavailable as of late and its getting to me.

Received a box of 12 Astral tubed cigars today which I had ordered from Joe’s Daily Deal at Cigars International. This was my first purchase from CI and it did not turn out well. Packing material was at the top and not the bottom of the box, so I ended up with smashed and broken glass tube/cigars. I have sent a note to attempt to get an exchange.

I have one day off after 16 days of continuous work and my father has requested most of time for physical labor. I do not mind helping him, but this is happening every god damn day I have off. I have zero time to myself to spend by myself or with friends where I am not completely tired.

Lots of people expect things from me, yet they never do anything in return… if you somehow ever come to this blog, you know who you are. I give whatever I have and do whatever I can for those whom I care about in the slightest, but expecting me to do without ever getting is becoming quite old. I do not say anything all that often, and just attempt to make your lives better, but its finally draining me. I need to change this.

My main computers video card melted as the fan died in the middle of the night, RIP EVGA 7900 GT CO Superclocked. I have decided to replace it with an MSI 8600 GT Twin Turbo until I decide to buy something better.

I am probably going to start working within our vault at AT which will give me a little more free time but in the mean time my mood is pretty sour. I have not taken it out on anyone that I can think of and I am trying to keep it that way. I am trying to fix my life in other ways as well. I have applied to various departments within the Vegas valley. I have added in my applications to UNLV Police, Highway Patrol, North Las Vegas, and once again to Metro if they will have me again. At this point i am probably willing to do corrections for a couple years and am most likely going to place applications in for metro corrections and North Las Vegas corrections.

Yay venting done, even though as I have zero readers this is all to my lonesome. Tomorrow is a new day, time to go practice smiling in the mirror, because I can’t seem to master it.
