Now till Retirement

As all of you know I love Porsche. I respect just about every car they have produced even if I could never justify the purchase of a specific model. One such model I would never have purchased is the Boxster. It is a good car, no doubt about it…. I have just never ever been able to fall in love with it. The style just was to blah for me. That has changed now, the Boxster RS 60 Spyder look absolutely delicious to me and I would be proud to own one. Now I just need to work on that issue of money needed to acquire one of these magnificent machines.

After much internal debate I have finally decided that I hate the stock headlights on the Porsche 944. The old standard sealed beams just do not cut it as far as I am concerned and I have often wished that Porsche had used the H4’s found on the 928s. I was aware of various upgrade kits out there but never put too much effort in to researching the options until last night.

After looking at all the various options and what is included I think I am finally set on the kit put out by 944online.com. Their price seems to be towards the lower end of the spectrum while including everything needed including a new wiring harness to avoid overloading the original wiring… and on top of it they have a ten percent off coupon in effect at the moment so that is another added bonus.

Looking up people’s thoughts about the company on Rennlist tells me they are a pretty honest and decent outfit to deal with, so I will probably be ordering sometime withing the next day or so. I will try to take pictures and write a post on the procedures and difficulties in using their kit once received.

I am a Porsche guy, I always have been and always will be. I can see the merit of other cars and even desire them, but when the choice comes down to it I choose the Porsche. Its been that way in the past(as is shown by the 944s and 98s I have accumulated) and will most likely be that way in the future. I buy within my means though and my true desires automotively must be put on hold.

The Porsche 997 GT3 RS is the current reason in life why I strive to continually better my financial situation. It is not as powerful or as fast at the Porsche 997 GT2 Turbo, but that doesn’t matter to me. I am in love with the high revving naturally aspirated engine in the GT3. The bare minimum of weight on the car, makes the power to weight ratio very similar to the turbo. This achieved by such measures as carbon fiber bits, titanium bits, plastic windows, a sticker for a hood crest… and the lack of safety features such as stability control.

This is a drivers car. You are in control to either drive it to its limit, or go past the limit and begin to have a very bad day. This is the kind of car that appeals to me. This is the kind of car I will own without a second thought of the expense within ten years if I keep on my current track. In the meantime I get to drool like everyone else who wishes they had it, reminding myself why I shovel every penny away into investments, rather then fast food.
