About Damon

Hey everyone, Damon here.

Where to start? If I told you my whole life story, you’d be stuck on this page for approx. 96 hours or so; so I’ll spare your eyes and my hands and just cut to the chase. I am 25 years of age and work as an IT Tech here at the hospital in Dalhart, TX. Where is Dalhart exactly? Well, for those of you who like to ski in Colorado, you might have just come through Dalhart a time or two. We are about 85 Northwest of Amarillo, TX. I do enjoy my job, however, would like to continue my goal to become a full-time entertainer. I enjoy doing gigs, and love to play my piano. So if you ever need a good show for a banquet or any occasion, keep me in mind.

Dalhart is a nice, quiet little town. There is only about 7,500 people who live here, and we don’t even have a Wal-Mart, so that shows just how small time we act. It does get very frigid here in the winters, and we actually do get snowed in from time to time because we’re so close to Colorado. We are actually close to Colorado, Oklahoma, and New Mexico; so it makes life easy if you want to hop to another state for the day. I used to live in Las Vegas, NV before Dalhart, which is where I met Phil during school. I’ll tell you, it’s a huge shock moving from Las Vegas to Podunk-ville, TX…a huuugggeee shock. I can’t complain too much though, as I’ve adapted quite well to the “small town life” that we sustain here in Dalhart.

I went through a divorce about a year and half ago, and quite honestly, and much happier now than I was while married.  There was a huge plus and minus from my divorce. The plus was that we didn’t have children together, which in the long run will be and already has been a huge blessing. Another benefit of divorce is it makes you take a step back, start over, and focus on what you did wrong and need to work on, and makes your stronger in many areas. The negatives were that I got pinned with debt which wasn’t all mine, but I guess joint credit cards can do that to you. Trust is also pretty much destroyed in a divorce, especially when you are looked at in the face and just flat lied to.

I started smoking cigars the day I turned 18. I really didn’t want to, but a friend of mine encouraged me to go down to the gas station, get some Swisher Sweets with plastic tips, and head to the lake for a birthday smoke (I think he wanted me to because he was still 17 at the time, and couldn’t buy them legally). Well, I did, and thought it was alright. As time moved on, so did I. I was living in Pampa, TX and starting hanging out with a gentleman who was actually a great friend of my dad. He would tell me I need to try some handmade cigars. We went to Amarillo to an actual cigar shop and I purchased my first Arturo Fuente, which I believe was 8-5-8…and I was in love and hooked from there. Since then, I’ve never bought any machine made cigars except Swisher Sweets, which Katrina’s father likes (he says he can’t handle the manly cigars I smoke…ha!)

While I was married, my wife never liked me smoking or drinking. Granted, she was a hardcore Southern Baptist, so I’m sure that had a lot to do with it. So, after we were officially divorced and I bought here out of my house, I built a Walk-In Cigar Humidor in my game room. I love it so, and have just about finished it completely. The inside is complete, and fully stocked I might add. The outside of the humidor is what I’m finishing this week, and I’ve already textured, painted, and put up most of the trim; it’s so close. It was a very interesting project, and for anyone who has the time and money, I would highly recommend it. I’ll even hire out to do it for you, for the right price that is :)

That’s another thing I enjoy, decorating and projects. I’ve been mistaken as being gay before due to my abilities to color coordinate and decorate, but I assure you I’m not. That’s just one of those traits I inherited from my awesome mom. Since I took over my house; I’ve remodeled the kitchen by re-doing the walls, tiling the floors, and tiling my counter-tops. I’ve re-tiled the bathroom, refinished all the floors in my house which are all hardwood, and built the walk-in humidor. My next project is to turn my basement into a bedroom.

I’m also a collector of antiques. My house was built in 1920, and is just an awesome, old house. It was built to last, I can assure you of that. I figured since the house was old, why not be nostalgic? I have things from a paw-foot dining table to antique bed frames, to family Bibles that are from the 1870’s. I love it all, and consider it an investment rather than just a hobby.

Well, that sums it up in a nutshell for me. I would like to encourage everyone to check back here frequently, as Phil and I will be writing our reviews on cigars…which is a passion for both of us. We are currently trying to come up with a “point” system for rating our cigars, so any suggestions or advice would be welcomed. Thanks for checking out the site , and do feel free to write us anytime. Take care everybody.
